Job Summary:Â
The Team Leader is responsible to support the area supervisor in the consistent achievement of the production schedule safely, efficiently and within budget to ensure the highest quality products for our Customers. This shift is Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00 am to 7:30 pm. This is a hands-on role which will work collaboratively with other departments as well as production personnel to coordinate and maintain the flow in production. The Team Leader will also support and motivate production personnel as well as drive initiatives that will lead to improvements in KPI’s.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Supervisor to lead and oversee production team members
- Assist Supervisor in planning and communicating daily production schedule
- Provide back-up to Supervisor job during periods of time off
- Train, develop and motivate production team members
- Motivate and inspire team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility
- Provides feedback to Supervisor regarding teams performance, including participating in the performance appraisal process
- Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards
- Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements in accordance with ISO-9000 procedures
- Ensure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices at all times
- Ensure all records are completed appropriately
- Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated
- Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets
- Ensure the team is aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities
- Manage work order closures and stock control transactions
- Maintain visible lead for adherence to procedures and instructions
- Prepare line set-ups for following shifts, including quality first offs
- Ensure set up is in accordance with standard, and the standard is maintained though a formal approval process
- Perform root cause analysis, problem solving and resolve problems
- Identify improvement opportunities
- Responsible for training of operators for products and processes
- Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success
- Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company procedures
- Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the department plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables
- Provide product expertise within team and respond to operator queries
- Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities
- Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team
- If there are any issues with production or fulfilling orders on time, quickly identify these problems and find ways to resolve them so that deadlines are still met without compromising quality
- Responsible for ensuring Work Instructions are relevant and up to date
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:Â
- Minimum 5 years of Team Leader experience
- Exercise considerable initiative/judgment in achieving production goals
- Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to lead by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity while demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time
